The Five Fearsome Felines!

Here are the furry friends who help keep my life "interesting"...

Caitlin, aka "Boo"

Caitlin (aka "Boo" or "Lady Fuzz") joined the household at the same time
I did. She will be old enough to buy alcohol this year! - 21 years, and still a feisty
wench. She won't take too much guff from the younger furpeople. She got the
nickname "Boo" as a kitten, when she'd hide behind or under furniture and
grab at human ankles as they went by.

Neutron, our little mutant

Neutron (or "Newt") is the second oldest, and actually has a year's
seniority in the household; my roommates had her before Boo and
I moved in with them. It doesn't show much in the picture, but Newt
has a hairlip (which causes her humans to do funny voice-overs for her).

Kiri from the side, showing his spotsKiri close-up

Kiri (whose name means "mist" or "fog" in Japanese) is the only purebred
in the household. He's an Egyptian Mau.
The Mau is a breed with spots, as you can see in the first photo, and Kiri
even has spots on his toes!

He's also allergic to chicken (try finding a cat food without poultry in it!!)
and has asthma, so while he's a realy sweetheart, I doubt we'll be
getting any more purebreds in the future!

Tavi, our newest "kid"

Tavi (short for Rikki-Tikki-Tavi) was a shelter rescue kitty.
He doesn't like to be held, but he loves to be *with*
his people, and to get petted and skritched. He's also a
terrible camera hog... as soon as he hears the flash
warming up, he starts to pose and preen.

Tavi & Kiri napping together in the cat-hammock

We got Tavi as a playmate for Kiri so he'd stop picking on the old
ladies. In one way, it didn't work -- now they *both* harrass the girls --
but they are best buddies.

And our newest addition, Hanabi. *She* adopted *us*, by the simple
expedient of sneaking into our garage studio one day while the door
was open to air the place. For a while we insisted we were just
"fostering" her, but eventually we gave in and started integrating
her into the household.

Hana lived wild for a while, and had at least one litter of kittens before
she joined us, so she has the most feral instincts of any of our cats...
but she's learned to play and cuddle, and every now and then she
just REALLY needs a lap.
